Hey there,
There is a very specific kind of optimism involved in heading into the woods wearing shorts, a tank top, and the belief that mosquitoes will simply respect your boundaries.
They will not.
Ticks are not known for their manners, either.
The good news is that your hiking outfit can do more than protect you from sunburn, branches, and the moment you realize the trail is muddier than the photos suggested.
Clothing is one of the simplest first lines of defense against ticks and mosquitoes.
Long sleeves and pants create a physical barrier. Loose-fitting clothing can also help because mosquitoes may bite through thin fabric that sits tightly against the skin. It may not be the most glamorous summer look, but neither is spending the evening scratching your ankles while insisting you are fine.
The Outfit Is Part of the Plan
For an extra layer of protection, consider clothing or gear treated with 0.5% permethrin.
Permethrin is an insecticide that can repel or kill ticks and mosquitoes. It can be used on items such as boots, socks, pants, tents, and other outdoor gear. Some clothing is sold pre-treated, or you can treat appropriate items yourself by following the product label carefully.
The important distinction: permethrin is for clothing and gear, not your skin.
Think of it as giving your hiking outfit a job before you leave the house.
One Scratchpad Per Task. Deleted When Done.
Your agents share a staging database. One bad migration, and every downstream task reads broken data.
ghost gives each task its own isolated Postgres database. Fork in 58ms. A scratchpad that disappears when the job is done. No shared state. No cleanup.
Dress for the Bugs You Do Not Want to Meet
Before a hike, yard project, or evening around the fire, reach for long, loose-fitting layers when the weather allows. Consider treating outdoor clothing and gear with a product containing 0.5% permethrin, or buying pre-treated items. Always follow the label instructions and let treated items dry completely before wearing or packing them.
Use a separate EPA-registered insect repellent on exposed skin as directed, and do a tick check when you come back inside. Check your clothing, gear, pets, and the easy-to-miss spots on your body.
The goal is not to turn a walk in the woods into a military operation.
It is to make yourself slightly less convenient.
Sometimes wellness looks like a sunrise hike and a deep breath of fresh air.
Sometimes it looks like accepting that the lightweight long-sleeved shirt was right all along.
