Hey there,

You know that saying, "Don’t let them see you cry"?
Nature took that literally.

Let’s talk about tear-feeders.

Picture this: You're sound asleep. All is quiet. Soft wings brush your skin, a gentle landing. Suddenly, a moth is sipping your tears like a warm nightcap.

Meet the Lachryphagous moth. That’s science for “she drinks tears”. These tiny vampires flutter through tropical forests, and sometimes your campsite, searching for one thing: eye juice.

They don’t want nectar.
They want you, or at least the minerals leaking from your eyes.

Tears are rich in salt, protein, and survival essentials. In a world where resources are scarce, your emotions become an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Bugs that drink your tears

  • Tear-drinking moths gently probe the faces of sleeping birds, turtles, and sometimes even humans without waking them.

  • Sweat bees who not only love your sweat but will sneak a drink from the corner of your eye if you’re still long enough.

  • Certain flies seek out crocodiles, cattle, and (unfortunately) humans for a quick sip when they’re feeling parched.

Want to stay off the menu? Set a shallow dish of saltwater away from your house. Most moths will take the easy minerals over the long trek to your eyeballs.

Nothing precious goes unnoticed

In the wild, survival depends on knowing when to give, when to guard, and when to disappear into the trees. In life, it’s not so different.

Protect what feeds you.
Notice who hovers when you are most vulnerable.
Defend your light the same way the strongest ecosystems defend theirs.

Because if it is happening in nature, it is probably happening inside you too.
Protect your energy. Defend your ecosystem.
And maybe, sleep with one eye open.

P.S. It’s not just bugs you have to watch out for. Misinformation sneaks in just as quietly. Stay sharp without the noise:
