Let’s talk hookworms

Hookworms are intestinal parasites that can enter the body through skin contact with contaminated soil. Translation:

  • infected feces in the environment (often from animals)

  • larvae in soil

  • bare feet = easy access

In humans, exposure can range from mild to significant depending on the species and dose. Sometimes it’s just an itchy rash at the entry point. Sometimes it becomes a gut/iron problem.

The part that matters for pet owners:
Dogs and cats can carry hookworms, and yards can become the “transfer station” if poop isn’t picked up quickly.

If you’ve got persistent itch/rash on feet after yard work, beach trips, or gardening—and especially if you’re also feeling tired/low energy—don’t ignore it. Parasites love being mistaken for “just a skin thing.”

Home Tip

  • pick up pet poop promptly (same day, not “eventually”)

  • keep pets on vet-recommended deworming schedules

  • if you’re doing heavy yard work: gloves + shoes

  • consider a designated “dog zone” in the yard that’s easier to maintain

Is your supplement stack actually working?

Most people have no idea what supplements they're taking. Download SuppCo to organize your routine, audit your nutrients, and see your StackScore. Then you'll know if your stack is helping or just expensive.

If your yard feels “off” (smell, flies, constant damp patches), your body may be reading that as risk before you consciously clock it.
