Hey there,
Missed last week? We talked about what really came home with us from the Amazon—and why parasite symptoms are way more common than you think. You can read it here.
This week, we’re picking up where that story left off.
After we got back from the Amazon, something felt… wrong.
I’m usually pretty upbeat. But suddenly, everything felt heavier. Foggy. Off. I was more irritable. More tired. And honestly? Depressed—despite having just returned from one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
People told me it was just stress. Or jet lag. Or coming back to “real life.”
But I was tired by 3pm, anxious for no reason, bloated after even the healthiest meals. My skin flared up. I chalked it up to hormones or maybe burnout.
That’s when I started digging.
And what I found? Parasites.
Not in the dramatic “discovery channel” way. But the very real, very common ones that are quietly freeloading in so many of us. And when I finally did a cleanse—let’s just say, I saw things I can’t unsee.
These bugs are stealthy. They don’t always cause explosive illness. More often, they whisper—low energy, inflammation, cravings, weird mood dips. Stuff you start to think is just part of getting older or being sensitive.
Common parasite symptoms we normalize:
Chronic bloating
Food sensitivities that seem to multiply
Anxiety or irritability with no clear trigger
Fatigue that lingers, even after “rest”
Skin issues like eczema, rashes, or adult acne
Iron deficiency or poor nutrient absorption
I thought I was just sensitive. Delicate. Maybe a little too intuitive for my own good. Turns out, my gut—and my gut instinct—were right.
This Isn’t Just a “Third World” Thing
We’ve been taught to think of parasites as something you only get from sketchy water in faraway places. But the truth? They’re already here.
Giardia is common in U.S. tap water. You can get it from a salad, a camping trip, or a glass of ice abroad.
Pinworms spread easily in schools, gyms, and even your own bed sheets. They come out at night to lay eggs around the anus (yes, gross—but real).
Ever eaten sushi? Rare steak? Traveled abroad and didn’t do a parasite cleanse when you got home?
Yeah. Us too.
These aren’t exotic threats. They’re everyday bugs that slip under the radar—and most doctors won’t test for them unless you explicitly ask.
The Sweet Tooth That Isn’t Yours
Here’s the wild part: many parasites feed on sugar. Some are even clever enough to hijack your gut-brain connection and make you crave it.
So if you’ve been reaching for sweets or carbs on autopilot?
It might not be you.
It might be them.
Cravings aren’t always emotional or hormonal.
Sometimes, they’re just freeloaders pulling the strings.
If this feels a little too familiar… same.
That’s why we’re here—to talk about the bugs no one talks about, and how to start getting free.
